Frequently asked questions

On branded weather experiences, Picks, and how a place or a brand can share them.

General

What is WeatherFlo?

WeatherFlo turns everyday weather checks into branded experiences for golf courses, hotels, resorts, events and destinations. People can also use it as a free iOS weather app, with video matched to where they are.

Why show weather as video instead of numbers?

Most of the time, we feel weather before we read it — the colour of the sky, the light before rain. Every city and every weather state is produced as cinematic video, curated rather than generated on the fly.

What is the WeatherFlo chip?

A small, native suggestion that appears in the Weather tab when live conditions match an active campaign — a tee time on a clear afternoon, a table booking when it's raining. Tap it and it opens WeatherFlo Picks, a curated landing page with the offer and related links. No banner. No interruption. Just one timely action, when it makes sense.

For Brands

How does a brand appear in WeatherFlo?

As part of the weather experience, not as a banner or an ad break. A brand can use full-screen video matched to the conditions, or a suggestion that opens Picks or the brand's own destination.

How is this different from targeting a person?

A suggestion is chosen from the weather, the place, the schedule and the priority. It does not need a browsing history, an inferred interest or a past click.

Why match a message to what someone is already seeing?

A DoubleVerify study of more than 16,000 consumers found that 69% are more likely to pay attention to a message when it is relevant to what they are already seeing. That is a study of advertising in general, not a WeatherFlo result.

Why does this work without invasive tracking?

WeatherFlo can match a suggestion to the weather without a profile of who someone is. On Picks, a visit can be counted by placement, partner, device type, hour, the weather shown, pick category and offer code. That count leaves out device ids, sessions and names.

What kinds of brands fit WeatherFlo?

Anything where weather genuinely changes what someone needs or wants: outdoor gear, drinks and food, travel, hospitality, golf, automotive, insurance. The fit isn't about category size, it's about whether weather actually changes the decision.

For Venues & Hotels

How does this work for hotels, golf courses and venues?

When someone is near your location, or opens your link, they can see your place in the weather happening now. The placement is annual: set once, and it stays on. The link can go on your website, in an email you send, or on a QR code. On Picks, a visit can be counted by placement, partner, device type, hour, the weather shown, category and offer code.

Is this just a weather app with promotions added on?

No. The weather experience is the product. A hotel, venue or brand can be part of that moment, through a placement, a suggestion or Picks, rather than a banner dropped on top.
